Ok, so it has taken me awhile to post about our Lake Powell trip. Again, no pictures and not because of Ethan this time, unfortunately because of me!! I forgot my camera! Who forgets to pack a camera when they go on a trip? That would be me! Lake Powell is something our family looks forward to every year. It is our favorite thing that we do in the summer with our family. Our kids would rather go to Lake Powell then anywhwere else, icluding Disneyland. Anyways, we left early Sunday morning and were supposed to be gone for a week. My sister Abbey and her 2 friends Megan (who has never been to Powell) and Jesse came ,as well as Adams entire family. We arrived down at the Lake and unloaded all of our stuff onto the houseboat. Something was wrong with one of the engines and so there was a guy there finishing up so that we could be on our way. It got a little late when he finished up fixing the engine so we decided to stay that first night at the slip. The next morning we got up and went scouting for a fun beach. We tubed and wakeboarded and went to swim rock. We decided to head back to get the houseboat so we could take it to the beach we had found. On the way back, Abbey and her friends decided to ride the tube. We were almost back to the boat when Megan flipped off the tube and got knocked out. We pulled her up onto the boat and she was not responding. She had a bloddy nose, but from what we could tell that was all that was wrong. We started towards the houseboat so that we could unload everyone and get her up to the medical clinic. We pulled towards where the boat as supposed to be and no boat....what? Where was the houseboat?? We circled around for a bit but the boat was definately gone. We proceeded to drive towards the boat launch ramp because we needed to get Megan to the hospital. As we pulled up to the boat launch we notice our housboat surrouned by rangers. We pulled up next to it and Adams dad tells us that we are pulling the boat off of the water because it is taking on a TON of water. To make a long story short, Megan was ok, and the boat was not. We had to dry dock the boat and stay at the Ticaboo lodge for the next 5 days!! We got up every morning and did he day trips on the ski boats. It was hot but we tried to make the best of a trip gone bad!! Thanks dad for making this trip still a lot of fun for everyone! Better luck next time! You too Megs, I promise Lake Powell really is the best place on earth even when things don't go as planned!
P.S. It has been almost 3 weeks and they just got the housboat fixed and back on the water!!

Wow, what a sad trip. I remember many trips to our houseboat when there were repairs undone or things happen to it while you are there. I can be a bummer but seriously is there anywhere better than Lake Powell really?? Even when things do go well, its still the best place ever. Hopefully your next trip is better.
I still get bothered by this situation. Oh well, it wasn't meant to be. Better luck next summer!
EEEEKKKK!! Now I am really freaked out--we are going to Lake Powell this weekend! What adventures will it bring us? JK! Two years ago, we had a "bad" experience at LP, too--the tire melted off the trailer, the car smoked the whole way down to LP, the CO2 monitors kept going off in the bedrooms, their was some type of gas leak, and the wave runner got unhooked and floated away during the night. But, it is going to be fun. it is going to be fun...
wow, you have every reason to be "bugged" - what a bummer! I guess you'll just hav to take a make-up vacation!
Crazy about your friend. That would have freaked me out. Well hopefully you get to go back out on the house boat and use it for real this time. Some time I will have to experience the luxury of Powell with a houseboat. Spoiled little Amanda :) Today was so much fun and the girls will love their journals. We are the best leaders ever! haha!
What a story! Glad everyone was okay. I have had many trips, growing up , where we spent half the vacation on the docks with boat trouble. Lake Powell is fun however you do it!
